2018/19 New Instructor Notes - A User Guide

Last Updated: Aug 08, 2018 02:28PM PDT

Throughout 2016/17 and 2017/18, the Instructor Notes Design Team (INDT) conducted surveys and interviews regarding the design and layout of Pathways' Instructor Notes. We have incorporated Pathways faculty recommendations into our newly redesigned Instructor Notes. This user and reference guide is to outline some of the improvements. Instead of having notes and answers inline with the student material, we have designed the new Instructor Notes to have all instructor content on left-side pages (mostly; see explanation below) in blue and student content on the right-side pages.

The images below display how the pages look during the creation of the Instructor Notes, which is the process combining of instructor and student pages in Acrobat.

Printing Instructions:
The 2018/19 Instructor Notes MUST BE PRINTED DOUBLE-SIDED
3-hole punched (recommended)
Use a 3-ring binder (recommended)

Instructor Notes (in blue, on left-side pages).

  • The Instructor Notes lesson introduction begins on a right-side page and runs for an even number of pages. This ensures the first page of the student material is on a right-side page.
  • Throughout Instructor Notes content, notes, facilitation prompts, and things to consider, etc, populate the upper section of the instructor notes pages.
  • Question answers populate the lower section of the instructor notes pages.
  • To maintain instructor-student page content alignment, where there is substantial instructor content (i.e. more than one page), we have them run over to an odd number of pages.
