New Course Section Request [STANDARD]

Overview


New course section requests can be put through after your institution Facilitator has created the Course Offering for the coming term. The graphic below shows the entire flow from Facilitator actions to Faculty and student actions necessary in getting your new course section set up with enrollments.



 

Putting through a New Course Section Request


Step 1
In your Pathways account, click on the Request a new course button.



Step 2
Select the Context and Course offering from the drop down menus and enter the name of the section. Note: If there is no offering listed for the appropriate term in the Course offering drop down, then it means your Facilitator has yet to create the offering. Select the primary instructor for the section. Enter the enrollment capacity, the class start and end dates, and indicate the method by which the summative assessment(s) will be administered. When done, click the Create section button at the bottom.



Your Pathways homepage will now indicate that you have a submitted course section request that has a status of New.



After a short while, the new course section will update to active. Now you can Launch into the course. Note the 8-digit Enroll code. This is what you share with your students to enroll in the section. New Pathways students (students that need to create a Pathways account) will use this 8-digit Enroll code when signing up on portal.carnegiemathpathways.org. Students with Pathways accounts from previous a previous course will log in to portal.carnegiemathpathways.org, click on the Enroll in a course button, and enter the 8-digit Enroll code.

Note: Make sure you explain to your students the difference between 8-digit Enroll codes and 16-digit Redemption codes. Enroll codes put students into the class, while Redemption codes provide permanent access to the online components of your class.

Manage Course


The Manage course tab is where you can see general course information (e.e first and last class dates, payment due date, which is the date at which the ~28 day courtesy access for students end), information related to the pre-course math quiz, and the background and follow-up surveys.

You can also find here the MCK and survey Reports.

This is also where you go to drop students and add TA and/or second instructor enrollments (Note: If who you want to add is not listed in the drop down, please contact your Facilitator to add the person to you institution's Pathways faculty team).

Assessment IDs can be generated and applied to the enrollments in your class by clicking the Assign assessment IDs button.
